That they may have life…
Why did Jesus come 2,000 years ago?
Of all the time periods in human history, why did He choose to come in the first century? The time in which arguably the most brutal and humiliating form of death was invented by none other than the Romans.
Why did He leave His throne in heaven? Why did He choose to empty Himself of His glory and take on human flesh?
Why would He enter a world filled with sin and death, pain and sorrow? Why would He choose to become like one of us and call Himself the Son of Man?
A short answer: To give us life.
Life is found in no other place than the Person of Jesus.
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
With His birth, we cannot forget that it is His death that brings us life.
At Christmas, let’s remember why Jesus came as a baby all those years ago. He came to give us life. And not just air to breathe, but “life to the full."
